Chickmagalur tourism is competing the coorg tourism. And, yes Chickmagalur is no more a poor tourism center. It has many points of interest and there are many Homestay in Chikmagalur built near the tourist spots for tourist's to accommodate.
There are also other authentic homestays in Chikmagalur like Mekanagadde Homestay. It is located in Western Ghats region. Here is the website www.mekanagadde.com . The stay is very nice. They serve a nice malnad food. We had been to this place twice.
